GivingData Add-In for Microsoft Word: Mac Installation

The add-in allows you to insert GivingData merge fields when creating document templates.

The GivingData Add-In for Microsoft Word should be installed on the computer for each user who will create document templates. You may need the assistance of your IT team to complete this installation.

Before starting the steps below, contact your Implementation Manager or Client Success Manager to obtain the manifest file that will be needed.

Microsoft Office 2016 or later is required to install this add-in.

Save the Manifest File

  1. Open your Mac's hard drive by pressing Shift+Command+C.
    1. If it does not appear, press Shift+Command+. (period) to display hidden folders.
  2. Open the Users folder, and then open the folder with your username.

  3. Open the Library folder, open the Containers folder, and then open the Microsoft Word folder.
    1. If you cannot find the Library folder, it may be hidden. To find the hidden folder, hold down the Option key to display hidden folders.
    2.  Another option is to open a Finder window by pressing Command + F. Navigate to the Mac hard drive by pressing Shift+Command+C, and then press Shift+Command+. (period) to display hidden folders.

  4. Open the Data folder, open the Documents folder, and then verify that there is a folder titled “wef” inside it.
    1. If this folder does not exist, create it now. wef folder

  5. Copy the manifest (.xml file) provided by your GivingData contact into the wef folder.

Load the Manifest in Microsoft Word

  1. Open a new Microsoft Word document.
  2. Click Add-Ins, and then click GivingData in the Developer Add-Ins section.

  3. The GivingData Add-In for Microsoft Word is now installed, and will appear in the header bar.
