Installing the GivingData Microsoft Word Add-In to Microsoft 365 Online

Learn how to install the GivingData Microsoft Word Add-In to your Microsoft 365 online account.

GivingData offers a Microsoft Word Add-In that allows users to insert GivingData fields into document templates. This add-in can be utilized with Microsoft Word online, and can also be used through the installed version of Microsoft Word on Mac or PC

Before installing the add-in, users will need to acquire the GivingData Add-In manifest file from their GivingData Implementation Manager or Client Success Manager. 

How to Install the GivingData MS Word Add-in to Microsoft 365


1. Log in to Microsoft 365 online, then open a new or existing Word document.

2. Select the Insert tab.

3. Click on the ellipsis to view More Options, then select Add-ins.

4. Select Upload My Add-in.

If the GivingData Add-In is already installed, users will see it listed within My Add-Ins or Admin Managed.

Select Upload My Add-in.

5. Select browse, then select the GivingData AddIn Manifest file from your computer.

Your GivingData Implementation Manager or Client Success Manager will provide the manifest file (GivingDataAddInManifest.xml) upon request.

6. Click Upload.

7. Within the Home tab, click on the ellipsis to view more options. Select Show GivingData Mergefields Taskpane.

8. The GivingData Add-In will now appear beside the document. Before adding merge fields, be sure to select a Template Type.
