How to Take Screenshots of the Console When Encountering an Error or Bug
Learn our tips & tricks for capturing screenshots when errors or bugs occur in GivingData.
On occasion, users may encounter a red error message in GivingData or may notice 'buggy', unexpected behavior. When submitting a support ticket, users are highly encouraged to attach screenshots demonstrating the issue.
While taking a screenshot of the error message in GivingData is helpful, users can capture even more information about the error through their browser's console. Oftentimes, attaching screenshots of the browser console will result in a quicker resolution from the GivingData Support Team.
Capturing a console screenshot in Google Chrome
1. Select More (3 vertical dots) at the top of your Google Chrome browser. Select More Tools > Developer Tools.
2. Select the Console tab within the side panel.
3. Take a screenshot of the entire screen, or take a screenshot of the Console panel making sure to include all red text that appears within the Console.
Depending on the amount of red text within the Console, you may need to scroll and take several screenshots to capture the entire console message.
Capturing a console screenshot in Microsoft Edge
1. Select More (3 horizontal dots) at the top of your Microsoft Edge browser. Click More Tools > Developer Tools.
2. Select the Console tab within the side panel.
3. Take a screenshot of the entire screen, or take a screenshot of the Console panel making sure to include all red text that appears within the Console.

Submitting screenshots
After taking screenshots, attach them to your Support Ticket with a description of what is occurring. This can be done by emailing support@givingdata.com or by clicking "Submit a Support Ticket" at the bottom of any page in GivingData.
