Taking Screenshots to Diagnose Site Slowness

When experiencing site slowness that doesn't resolve with troubleshooting, users should take screenshots and submit them via a support ticket.

In Google Chrome:

  1. In the Chrome browser menu, select “View,” “Developer,” then “JavaScript Console.” The console will appear at the bottom or side of your browser window.article 1-May-13-2025-10-18-42-3455-PM
  2. Click twice on “Time” in the console (indicated in the screenshot below) to sort the time entries by descending order.article 2-May-13-2025-10-18-49-7460-PM
  3. Perform the steps in GivingData which typically cause or coincide with the slowness/performance issues.
  4. Once the slowness has occurred, you should see a longer time entry in the first line of the console.
  5. Take a screenshot of the entire browser window, including the console.

      Submitting Screenshots

      After taking screenshots, submit the screenshots with a description of what is occurring in a Support ticket. This can be done by emailing support@givingdata.com or clicking "Submit a Support Ticket" at the bottom of the GivingData site.
