Taking Screenshots to Diagnose Site Slowness

When experiencing site slowness that doesn't resolve with troubleshooting, users should take screenshots and submit them via a support ticket.

In Google Chrome:

  1. In the Chrome browser menu, select “View,” “Developer,” then “JavaScript Console.” The console will appear at the bottom or side of your browser window.
  2. Click twice on “Time” in the console (indicated in the screenshot below) to sort the time entries by descending order.
  3. Perform the steps in GivingData which typically cause or coincide with the slowness/performance issues.
  4. Once the slowness has occurred, you should see a longer time entry in the first line of the console.
  5. Take a screenshot of the entire browser window, including the console.

      Submitting Screenshots

      After taking screenshots, submit the screenshots with a description of what is occurring in a Support ticket. This can be done by emailing support@givingdata.com or clicking "Submit a Support Ticket" at the bottom of the GivingData site.
