Learn GivingData navigation basics, such as the Quick Navigation Menu.
Logging In
Navigate to your GivingData site. Please check with your site administrator about the specific URL for your site. Typically, sites are named <organizationname>.givingdata.com.
If your foundation is using a third-party user authentication process, you may be asked for your network credentials to re-authenticate.
Homepage
Once logged in to GivingData, you will arrive on the homepage.
The Quick Navigation Menu, located at the top of the page, allows you to navigate to the most commonly used features in GivingData. This menu will appear on every page of the site, and the options may vary depending on your site permissions.
Add a New Record
Click the plus sign in the Quick Navigation Menu to quickly add a new organization, request, or contact record.
When adding a new organization or contact, GivingData will suggest existing records which might match the record you want.
Searching
Click the magnifying glass to find records in GivingData.
There are two search areas: Quick Search and Super Search.
Quick Search will search on the following fields to suggest records you may be looking for:
- Names, legal names, and AKAs
- Request project titles and request IDs
- Contact names
The five records you most recently accessed will be available under “Recent Quick Searches.”
Super Search allows you to build and run more complicated searches based on criteria you define. The five saved searches you most recently ran will be listed under “Recent Saved Searches.”
My Notes
Click the post-it note icon to launch My Notes.
My Notes is an area where you can type notes, reminders, and to-do’s for yourself.
This is private to you and your GivingData login. Other GivingData users cannot see your My Notes area.
My Tasks
Click the checklist to access My Tasks.
My Tasks will display any task that is assigned to you, organized by Overdue, Due Today, Upcoming, and Missing Due Date. Tasks can be completed and accessed directly from the My Tasks modal.
Tasks can be viewed in a variety of formats, and filtered to view tasks that are dependent upon another task, or tasks you are following but not assigned to.
My Tasks contains additional details.
Settings
Click the gear icon to access System Settings.
Only GivingData users that have permission to access one or more parts of System Settings will see the gear icon in the Quick Navigation menu.
System Settings allows administrators to add and edit configuration options. Here, they can manage grantee portal forms, request statuses, document templates, etc.
